Emmanuel is a church that loves students. Whoever you are, and wherever you're from, you are really welcome here. We'd love to meet you.

We offer a family

Here's the best thing we can offer you at Emmanuel: when you come, you won't find a student group, you'll find a family.

You'll be known and loved, praying and prayed for. You’ll be learning and laughing alongside brothers and sisters of every age and stage from children and pensioners, single and married folk, to members from Exeter others from the ends of the earth. We believe one of the richest things about following Jesus is knowing, loving, and learning from the diversity of His family. We trust integrating you into the whole life of the church is far better than spending your student years solely among people just like you. Our great hope is that you would put down roots and call Emmanuel your home and family for your time in Exeter.

Wonderfully ordinary

We are a community changed by knowing Jesus more. We long to see that happen among you in three ordinary, wonderful ways.

Firstly, discipleship: getting to grips with what God says in the Bible, and what it means for our lives. Sunday by Sunday the Bible is faithfully preached, and through the week our home groups meet in members' homes to open the Scriptures, pray, and share life together. There's a place for you in one, and we'd love to read the Bible with you one to one as well, over coffee or on campus.

Secondly, community: the church is God's family, so we share our lives as a family all week long and not just on a Sunday. You’ll find plenty of opportunities on our church calendar to get to know us and other students from Sunday afternoon lunches, to Christmas parties, and weekends away.

Thirdly, service: many of our students become church members and use their gifts among us, whether that's helping with the children, joining the welcome team, serving with music, or making the teas and coffees.

Perhaps you're not yet sure what you make of Jesus, or you're exploring the Christian faith for the first time. Wonderful, you are as welcome as everyone else. Come along to anything we do, bring all your questions, and let us help you think things through.
